Sermon: When my Alice was born, I was reading a book by John Piper entitled Don’t Waste Your Life. I took a picture of a 10-minute old Alice lying beside that book and distinctly remember saying to her, “Alice, don’t waste your life!” That book grew out of a sermon preached at a Youth Conference 25 years ago, and this sermon touched a huge number of people in my generation. I wonder if you’ll probably recognize how it impacted my life, too.
Bonus: I did finish Revelation 14 last night at our evening study, and for those of you interested in hearing the end of it, I recorded it. It’s not been posted yet, but watch the Lewis Lake YouTube channel or the app and it should drop in the next day or two.
Catechism: Since no one can keep the law, what is its purpose?
Song from Clark: When considering some of the direct references to Revelation 14 in hymns I couldn't avoid giving a listen to “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory” (commonly called the Battle Hymn of the Republic). If one can suspend the connections to the Civil War era and look for the interesting Biblical references in this text you might find it, "glorious."
